goodnight daisey girl :-(

Posted on February 10, 2018 at 6:34 AM Comments comments (7)
We are extremely sad to have had to say goodbye to our beloved cat DAISEY yesterday evening. She was 15 years old and our absolute baby. We rescued her around 13 years ago and she has been the boss of this family ever since - a graceful gentle adorable girl who will be in our hearts forever and is bitterly missed by us all. She started to decline in August last year and was diagnosed with thyroid problems but sadly the medication wasn't enough and she gradually got worse loosing lots of weight and finally on Tuesday 6th February after having lumps appear on her belly in just over a week was diagnosed with mammary tumours (cat breast cancer) we was advised by our vet that she would have a matter of days as this is an aggressive fast growing cancer - being our baby we didn't want to see her suffer any further, and yesterday evening she very dignifiedly went to sleep in our arms.

HAPPY NATIONAL RABBIT DAY!

Posted on September 24, 2016 at 5:42 AM Comments comments (0)
Hi guys, yes its national rabbit day today, and what a good time to have a little pre autumn check of your furry friends -
Check the claws to make sure they are not too long and that they are all intact, bunnies can get carried away having a chew and end up with a sore one its always best to check.

Make sure their teeth are ok, as you know bunnies can suffer from overgrown teeth and that doesn't always have to be from birth, they can bite the cage at times and the teeth alignment changes enough to stop the top and bottom rubbing sufficiently to keep them at the same length.

Check their eyes are nice and bright, not runny or crusty, sometimes stray bits of hay can get into the eye and make it a little sore.

A nice brush is always welcomed by your furry friend, they love the attention and its a good way to check for any pests in the fur, its said to be the worst year so far in many for flees, yes they like bunnies too and if your bunny likes to run in the garden just remember Mr fox and the odd hedgehog may have also had a wander too and they are in fact running alive with flees and ticks, always best to check - its perfectly normal especially this year but not nice for itchy bunny!

Fly strike can happen at anytime of year not just summer when its nice and warm so always make sure you check the bottom - not all bunnies like to do this themselves and it can fall on us to do the job for them, saves any unfortunate things happening ;-(

BUT MOST OF ALL HUG YOUR BUNNY TODAY! ;-)

summer care for bunnies

                                      SUMMER CARE FOR BUNNIES
Now the weather is in summer mode, there are a few things to always remember when caring for small pets indoors and outdoors:

  • Always make sure they have fresh water to drink at all times.

  • keep an extra eye out on Bunny bottoms, flys love a nice wet bottom to lay there eggs on and this can be and quiet often is fatal leading to fly strike!

  • Make sure if your cage is in the midday sun that your Buns or Wiggys have some shaded place to go as Its very hot and if they cant get out of the heat they can die!

  • Although we go off our food when its hot, Bunnies tend to still be quiet hungry and wont be happy if you forget their food :-(

  • If you go away on holiday, your pets still need to be looked after even though its nice weather - call us!
